The View from In Between.

Prior to visiting the exhibition I had never understood the framework Commes des Garcons seems to work within, but as I walked through Kawakabo's world I relaized that number one, I had never truly tried and number two, the framework is of no relevance at all. Kawakbo presents a space that is ever-present and utterly limitless, transcending boundaries of love, life, and death, calling forward the human experience and not requesting that you tap in, but rather assuming that you simply will. Her pieces create form rather than mimiking that of the body of another. While I attribute Rei's audience to the fact that her works are presented as garments, it is in no need of a body to take form. Her work embodies the  exploratory nature of fashion as her reflection of the human experience presents a view from in between such life.
